摘要：El presente trabajo es un acercamiento a la idea de que el espacio cartográfico se conforma tanto por los mitos y las leyendas, como por la historia y la realidad. Para ello, parte de una serie de mapas que describen los contornos continentales, elaborados en las primeras décadas del descubrimiento americano. En varios de ellos se aprecia al mapa como resultado de un aplicado conocimiento de acuerdo con los avances y la tecnología de la época, pero también según los atavismos y preceptos ideológicos vigentes en el momento.
其他摘要：This paper presents an approach to the idea that cartographic space is the result of myths and legends as much as it is history and reality. As such, the present work starts with a series of maps that describe the continental contours made within the first decades of the discovery of America. In several of these maps can be observed the applied knowledge in agreement with the advances and the technology of its time, but at the same time they also valued the atavisms and effective ideological rules of that historic moment.
