摘要：La política internacional venezolana durante el gobierno del Presidente Hugo Chávez ha buscado fortalecer la soberanía nacional, promoviendo la conformación de un mundo multipolar, el desarrollo de la cooperación con los países de América Latina y el Caribe donde la variable energética se ha convertido en piedra angular de esta política y la propuesta del ALBA (Alternativa Bolivariana para América Latina y el Caribe) como alternativa ante la propuesta hegemónica de los Estados Unidos, el ALCA (Área de libre comercio de las Américas).
