摘要：En este ensayo se analiza las opciones de Venezuela en el proceso de negociación del Area de Libre Comercio de las Américas (ALCA). Luego de una breve revisión de las negociaciones del ALCA, se examina el contexto internacional y nacional y las vulnerabilidades y fortalezas de Venezuela en ese contexto. Posteriormente, se evalúa la evolución de la posición venezolana frente al proceso hemisférico y las opciones y desafíos que éste genera para Venezuela. En particular se especula sobre los costos y beneficios que las opciones de participar y excluirse del proceso generan para Venezuela.
其他摘要：This paper examines the Venezuelan policy options in the negotiation process of the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). After doing a brief review of the FTAA negotiating process, one analyses the international and national context and vulnerabilities and strengths of the Venezuelan economy. Then, the paper considers the evolution of the Venezuelan national position concerning the FTAA and the challenges and opportunities this may generate for Venezuela. In particular, the paper analyses the cost and benefits that the lternative "participate" "non-participate" may cause to the Venezuelan economy.
