摘要：Este artículo estudia El general en su laberinto, de Gabriel García Márquez, como una obra clave para entender las preocupaciones ideológicas del escritor colombiano a finales de los años ochenta. Mediante criterios narratológicos la autora analiza la obra y llega a la conclusión de que el texto interpreta la Independencia como el primer intento fracasado de unir toda Hispanoamérica en una sola nación. La imagen de Simón Bolívar en la novela depende plenamente de esta idea principal, y el artículo defiende que García Márquez pretende construir un mito que ayude a la reactualización constante del esfuerzo unificador
其他摘要：This article explores The General in His Labyrinth, by Gabriel García Márquez, a key work to understand the ideological questions to which the Colombian writer gave special attention during the late eighties. This paper is analyzed through narratological criteria, and the author comes to the conclusion that the text explains Independence as the first unsuccessful attempt to unify all Latin America into one single nation. The Simón Bolívar character in the novel depends on this main idea, and the author states that García Máquez wants to create a myth to update the continuing unifying efforts
