摘要：A capacidade do governo presidido por Ricardo Lagos de promover as reformas exigidas por seus eleitores é examinada contra o pano de fundo dos pesados obstáculos que o legado do regime autocrático de Pinochet coloca no seu caminho. Se falhar, argumenta-se, a coalizão de centro-esquerda que governa o Chile há urna década corre o risco de esgotar-se e o crescimento da direita poderá tornar-se irrefreável.
其他摘要：The ability of President Ricardo Lagos government to promote the reforms claimed for by its supporters is examined against the background of the heavy obstacles put in its way by the legacy of Pinochets autocratic regime. If it does not succeed, it is argued, the center-left coalition that governs Chile since 1990 runs the risk of exhausting itself, with the consequent growth of the Right.
