摘要：Este artigo baseia-se em conferência pronunciada nas Primeras Jornadas Nacionales de Psicologia Escolar, realizadas em Caracas - Venezuela, em abril de 1980. A retomada do tema nesta oportunidade justifica-se por tratar de subsídio histórico de um ramo da Psicologia que ganhou impulso a partir da década de 60 do século passado. Naquela época, a pesquisa intercultural em Psicologia ensaiava seus primeiros passos no sentido de introduzir uma nova dimensão na análise e interpretação do comportamento humano: a variável sociocultural. Os psicólogos, notadamente os norte-americanos, acostumados a uma posição etnocêntrica em Psicologia, começaram a preocupar-se com a nova abordagem: a intercultural. As conseqüências para o estudo do comportamento humano são evidentes, especialmente no contexto da educação.
其他摘要：This article is based on a lecture delivered during Primeras Jornadas Nacionales de Psicologia Escolar, which took place in Caracas - Venezuela in April 1980. The retaking of this subject at this moment is justified for being a historic subsidy of a branch in Psychology that gained force as from the decade of the 60s of last century. At that time, Cross-Cultural research in Psychology was merely rehearsing its first steps toward the introduction of a new dimension in the analysis and interpretation of human behavior: the sociocultural variable. The psychologists, notedly the North Americans, accostumed to an ethnocentric position in Psychology, began to worry about the new approach: the Cross- Cultural one. Consequences for the study of human behavior are evident, specially in the context of education.
