摘要：A Marilyn Monroe no la dejaban salirse del estereotipo de rubia tonta y despampanante que eclipsa a los espectadores en la gran pantalla y cuya única meta en sus papeles en el cine (e incluso en su propia vida personal) es la de agradar a los hombres y tener muchos diamantes, tal y como la hacían cantar en la película "Los caballeros las prefieren rubias", Diamond's are the girl's best friend¿ Nada más lejos de la realidad, Marilyn Monroe era actriz, cantante, esposa, poeta, activista, filántropa¿ El símbolo sexual tenía más caras que únicamente aquella que los grandes estudios de Hollywood le habían dejado mostrar. En cierta manera, respecto a ella, nos tenían engañados. El presente artículo repasa los diferentes estereotipos de género aplicados al cine y a Marilyn Monroe y nos ilustra sobre la persona y el mito que fue la actriz, rompiendo muchos de los estereotipos de los personajes que interpretaba y que también se aplicaban a su persona.
