摘要：O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a importância atribuída pelos alunos do ensino médio ao ingresso na educação superior. A amostra foi composta por 659 alunos da terceira série do ensino médio de oito escolas públicas (50,1%) e particulares (49,9%) da cidade de Porto Alegre (RS), de ambos os sexos (54,8% de moças e 45,2% de rapazes) e com idades entre 15 e 23 anos (M=16,8; DP=0,85). Os resultados indicaram que 86,2% dos jovens pretendem prestar vestibular depois da conclusão do ensino médio. Não foram encontradas diferenças significativas entre sexos, mas foram encontradas diferenças significativas entre tipos de escola (pública e particular) e nível de escolaridade parental (fundamental, médio e superior). Os resultados confirmam a educação superior como uma alternativa praticamente isolada para os alunos que chegam ao final do ensino médio.
其他摘要：This study investigated the importance of higher education in high school students' perceptions. Participants were 659 high school students (54,8% girls and 45,2% boys) from public (50,1%) and private (49,9%) schools in Porto Alegre (RS), with ages between 15 and 23 years (M=16,8; DP=0,85). Results show that 86,2% of the students intend to tace the university entry exams when they finnish high school. There were found no differences between boys and girls, but type of school (public and private) and parental education (elementary, secundary and higher) were significant observed aspects. Results support higher education as one of the few options to students concluding high school.
