摘要：El envejecimiento poblacional es uno de los mayores logros que la humanidad ha alcanzado en la contemporaneidad, pero el incremento en el número de personas ancianas impone un impostergable reto para las políticas y estrategias en salud, en aras de satisfacer sus necesidades y brindarles la posibilidad de vivir sus últimos años con excelente calidad de vida. El presente artículo invita a reflexionar en torno a las necesidades, realidades y posibilidades del sistema de salud cubano y expone algunos elementos teóricos a considerar para el análisis y enfrentamiento de la situación demográfica que alcanza cada vez mayores dimensiones.
其他摘要：Population aging is one of the greatest achievements of mankind at the present time; however the rise of the number of older persons represents a very pressing challenge for health policies and strategies, with a view to meeting the needs of the elderly and giving them the possibility of enjoying good quality of life. This article encourages people to make reflections on the needs, realities and possibilities of the Cuban public health system, and thus to suggest some theoretical elements that should be taken into account for the analysis of and facing up to this increasingly growing demographic situation.
