摘要：El estudio examina cuantitativamente la influencia de los factores externos sobre el resultado escolar. Se incorpora, además, una variable interna: la cobertura de las materias escolares alcanzada por los profesores durante el año escolar, en las asignaturas evaluadas. Los datos utilizados provienen de SIMCE, la medición censal de logro en matemática y castellano en el octavo grado del sistema escolar chileno, en 1997. Las conclusiones del estudio indican que la variable estrictamente económica, ingresos familiares, tiene poco poder explicativo; en cambio, las variables contextuales en torno a la madre adquieren mayor relevancia. Especialmente las expectativas de la madre respecto a la carrera educacional de su hijo/a. Asimismo se constató que las variables curriculares muestran una influencia significativa, especialmente en matemática.
其他摘要：The study analyses quantitatively the influence of external factors upon educational achievement. An internal variable is also incorporated to the model: the fulfilment of scholar goals in mathematics and language. Data is gathered from SIMCE, the Chilean system of achievement measurement, year 1997 for the 8°th grade of the primary school. The conclusions of the study implies that the purely economical variable, familiar incomes, has poor significance. More relevant are variables pointing to the mother: particularly her educational expectancies concerning the children. Also, the study has concluded that the accomplishment of scholar goals has significant influence in mathematics and language.
