For him, the body constitutes a dynamic unity that is able to interpret in an intelligent way what takes place. Nevertheless, we must emphasize that his philosophy extend this hermeneutical power to any living being. Nietzsche supports that idea thanks to several contemporary authors (Lange, Haeckel, Helmholtz, Spencer, etc.). The way Nietzsche understands them, selection and simplification processes belong to any organism from the moment they are able to assimilate or excrete the unknown. In living beings, the emergence of «memory» enables a peculiar and «intelligent» way of gaining power. The possibility for organisms to incorporate what they experience means that they can save time and improve their efficiency, reaching its highest level in habits and automatisms of the instinct.
