摘要：En este comienzo del siglo XXI, el desarrollo de Suramérica aparece comprometido por los cambios ocurridos en los últimos treinta años asociados a la reorganización monetaria mundial y a las transformaciones tecnológicas. La integración económica subregional aparece entonces como una posibilidad de solución si se acompañase con la creación de una moneda regional. Pero el incumplimiento de algunos requisitos en ese dominio, hace que en el ínterin el bimoneta-rismo aparezca como un subóptimo.
其他摘要：At the outset of the 21st century, development in South America appears to have been seriously compromised by changes which, during the last 30 years, have transformed the international financial system together with the character of innovative technologies. A sub regional economic integration is being presented as a way of facing the challenge, as long as it is accompanied by the creation of a regional currency. This article argues that the difficulties in the way of creating such a regional currency suggest the convenience, at least for the time being, of a dual currency system.
