摘要：Este artículo tiene como objetivo examinar las alternativas que se le presenta al la Comunidad Andina para lograr una integración monetaria. Después de revisar la literatura de relevancia, la autora presenta algunos criterios derivados del de-bate sobre el Área Monetaria Optima y alguna información disponible sobre el temor frente a una tasa flotante o una dolarización. Se argumenta que la literatu-ra tradicional sobre integración monetaria se ha producido básicamente para explicar el proceso tal como se dio en Europa y que, para abordar el problema en el contexto latinoamericano, hace falta un marco de referencia distinto, uno que toma en cuenta algunas de las características de la región, tales como: el temor a una tasa flotante, el pecado original, dolarización y masivos y volátiles flujos de capital muy sensibles a responder al contagio financiero e interrupción repentina. Para concluir, la autora examina los pro y contra de tres posibles so-luciones para la Comunidad Andina: acuerdos para coordinar ajustes en tasas de cambio reptantes, una divisa regional común y dolarización.
其他摘要：Object of this paper is to examine the options for monetary integration in the Andean Community, in the context of existing literature on the subject. After a survey of the relevant literature, some stylised facts of the Andean Community are examined. Optimum Currency Area criteria are considered, as are some indictors of fear of floating and dollarization within the region. I argue that the traditional literature on monetary integration has been developed largely with the intent of explaining integration in Europe, and to consider instead monetary integration in Latin America we need a new framework, one that takes into account the particular characteristics of these economies: fear of floating, original sin, dollarization, and large and volatile capital flows, subject to financial contagion and sudden stops. In conclusion I examine the pros and cons of three possible options available to the Andean Community: mutual exchange rate pegging, a common regional currency and dollarization.
