摘要：En estos años iniciales de un nuevo siglo, el mundo vive el proceso de avance acelerado de las nuevas Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TICs). Este fenómeno está generando un nuevo tipo de sociedad, emergente, incipiente e insuficiente que las ciencias sociales y las humanidades tratan de entender. Para definirlo, se ha extendido el término de Sociedad del Conocimiento, particularmente en los países occidentales y asiáticos más intensamente tecnologizados. Sin embargo, autores latinoamericanos han señalado que el término no considera la diversidad de realidades existentes en la humanidad, y por ello han propuesto referirse más bien a Sociedades del Conocimiento. En este texto se presenta un punto de vista crítico a partir de la realidad mexicana contemporánea que se manifiesta en la economía y la educación. Se ofrece información originada en investigaciones realizadas desde la perspectiva de la ecología del desarrollo humano como pistas para enfrentar las situaciones de globalización-pobreza y de avance tecnológico-deficiente escolarización. La propuesta es ubicar con lucidez a México en los procesos mundiales de cambio y transformación. El país no saldrá adelante si no le da prioridad a la educación.
其他摘要：The world is in a process of accelerated development of the new technologies of information and communication in these first years of a new century. This phenomenon is creating a new type of emerging society that challenges the understanding of the social sciences and the humanities. The most technology oriented Western and Asiatic countries have coined the term Knowledge Society in trying to define it. However, Latin American authors have pointed out that such term does not consider the diversity of existing realities in mankind. They propose to rather use the term Knowledge Societies. This article offers a critical point of view from the standpoint of the contemporary Mexican reality in relation to economy and education. It presents information gathered through research carried out from the Ecology of Human Development perspective looking for pathways to confront the situations of globalization-poverty and technological advance-deficient schooling. The proposal is to lucidly locate Mexico in the world processes of change and transformation. The country will not be able to go forward unless it gives priority to education.
