摘要：Este artículo presenta varias investigaciones interculturales recientes dirigidas al estudio de las metas y prácticas de socialización de las madres con sus niños pequeños. Se comienza resaltando la importancia cada vez mayor que se atribuye a las experiencias sociales y afectivas de los niños durante los primeros años de vida, destacando el rol que juega la madre como agente de socialización y la forma como la pertenencia a una cultura afecta el ejercicio de este rol. Las metas y prácticas de socialización se abordan desde dos posiciones valorativas globales, la independencia y la interdependencia, que moldean significativamente las relaciones sociales que se construyen en una comunidad cultural. Se estudia cómo el predominio de una u otra posición valorativa afecta la socialización infantil, y se concluye que en lugar de ser antagónicas son complementarias, dado que en toda comunidad cultural debe encontrarse algún tipo de solución a la tensión que se establece entre las necesidades e intereses del individuo y las del grupo social, todo lo cual exige algún grado de educación tanto hacia la independencia como hacia la interdependencia.
其他摘要：This article presents a series of recent cross-cultural investigation turning their attention to the study of socialization goals and practices that guide mothers in the relation to their children. It begins by highlighting the increasing importance attributed to social and emotional experiences of children during the first years of life, specifying the role played by the mother as an agent of socialization and how membership in a culture affects the exercise of this role. The goals and practices of socialization are addressed from two global evaluative positions, independence and interdependence, which significantly shape the social relations that are built in a cultural community. We study how the predominance of one or the other position affects the socialization of children, concluding that rather than being antagonistic they are complementary, since each cultural community must find some kind of solution to the tension that exists between the needs and interests of the individual and the social group, all of which require some degree of education both to independence and towards interdependence.
