其他摘要:Development of behavior in dogs is reviewed relative to the process of primary socialization (including social attachment). Separation distress in the form of vocalization first appears during the transition period (at about the time the eyes are first open) and increases with age, irrespective of previous experíence, up to 21 days. The current experíment deals with the effects of repeated short experiences of separation on puppies after 21 days in two situations: constant and changing. Vocalizatíons were gradually reduced at similar rates in both situatíons, leading to the conclusión that reduction of the response is due to habituation. However, habituation takes place extremely slowly compared to other emotional responses such as fear and is never complete. Separation dístress is therefore an extremely persistent and long lasting emotional response.
