其他摘要：The phenomen on of internationa migration has two human components both of which are equally ímportan: The people who go and the people who stay be hind. This study was conducted with 202 Mexican women living in Mexico and married to immigrant workers residing in the United States. The purpose of the study was to investigate the stress or sthese women have to face and the ir internal and external resources. We were also interestedin relating the experience of stress to the women´s psychological functioning through the as sessment of generalizad psychological distress, depression, anxiety, and somatization. Findings revealed that the stress or report dreflect preoccupation with three areas:a) welf are of the absen thusband;b) acquisition of new responsibilities and obligations by these women; and e) family disintegration. The stress cale (INEFAM) was found significantly correlate with generalizad psychological distress (CES-D), depression, anxiety, andsomatization (SCL-90). Other findings reverted that these women have a dequate socialnet-works, the most important being the husband as provid eroffinancial support and the ir children as providers of emocional and financial support
