摘要：O processo histórico da formação dos manicômios e a reforma no sistema de atendimento psiquiátrico brasileiro ganha suas formas diante dos movimentos sociais que resultaram nos atuais CAPS (Centro de Atenção Psicossocial). Hoje a reintegração dos pacientes à sociedade e a não-hospitalização mostram-se projetos criativos de tratamento. Este estudo buscou identificar o processo histórico de desmanicomização na cidade de São Paulo, desde a sistemática apresentada por Phillip Pinel até a implantação dos CAPS, através de uma análise documental e bibliográfica das mudanças no sistema de tratamento manicomial decorrente dos movimentos sociais e políticos. Tendo perseguido o diálogo entre diferentes autores sobre a história da loucura no contexto de segregação humana, apresenta-se uma análise - partindo de Pinel até o CAPS - que nos possibilitou uma visão geral das transformações sociais, médicas e estruturais da instituição que tem como o objetivo o tratamento da loucura. É certo, no entanto, que o foco se manteve no processo histórico, com o surgimento do "Pinel", os tratamentos adotados, hoje modificados diante dos atuais CAPS.
其他摘要：The historical adoption of insane asylums and the reform in the Brazilian system of psychiatric attendance is being dictated by the social movements that resulted in the current CAPS (Center of Psychosocial Attention). Today the patients¿ reintegration to society and the non-hospitalization prove to be a creative treatment project. This study aimed to identify the historical process of the psychiatric reform in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, from the systematic presented by Phillip Pinel up to the deployment of CAPS, through a documentary and bibliographical analysis of the changes in the system of insane asylums treatment as a consequence of social and political movements. After pursuing the dialogue between different authors on the history of madness under the context of the segregation of human beings, it is given an analysis -starting from Pinel up to CAPS - that offered us a general view of the social, medical and structural transformations of the institutions that aims to treat madness. It is certain, however, that the focus was kept in the historical process, with the emergence of "Pinel", the adopted treatments, today modified towards the current CAPS.
