摘要：Este trabalho de natureza qualitativa tem como objetivo caracterizar o relacionamento interpessoal entre enfermeiros e pessoas com diabetes, por entender-se que as relações constituem uma forma de intervenção à saúde que podem contribuir para a compreensão das respostas dessas pessoas à doença. O cenário de coleta de dados foi constituído de onze unidades de Saúde da Família locadas na cidade de Vitória da Conquista-Bahia. Os sujeitos do estudo foram os enfermeiros dessas unidades em interação com pessoas com diabetes. Para coleta dos dados, foi utilizada a observação estruturada e não participante, cujo conteúdo foi analisado e categorizado por meio da análise temática norteada por Bardin. Os resultados apontaram uma valorização do papel instrumental (técnico) do enfermeiro, bem como uma desvalorização dos elementos subjetivos como integrantes do cuidado de enfermagem. Necessário se faz preencher as lacunas de informação e conhecimento sobre as relações interpessoais, o que não tem sido foco de planejamento e implementação nas ações cuidativas/relacionais dos enfermeiros que lidam com pessoas portadoras de diabetes.
其他摘要：This work of qualitative nature aims to characterize the interpersonal relationship between nurses and diabetic people, for understanding that the relations constitute a form of health intervention that can contribute for the understanding the way people respond to the illness. The data collection consisted on eleven Family Health units in the city of Vitória da Conquista- Bahia, Brazil. The subjects of the study were the nurses of these units who interacted with people with diabetes. For the data collection, it was used a non-participant, structuralized observation, and the content was analyzed and categorized by means of the thematic analysis guided by Bardin. The results pointed out a higher apreciation of the instrumental (technician) knowledge of the nurse, as well as a depreciation of the subjective elements as part of the nursing care. It is necessary to fill the information and knowledge gaps on the interpersonal relations, as it has not been focus of planning and implementation in care actions of the nurses who deal with people in the diabetes situation.
