摘要：O Método Mãe Canguru é uma alternativa ao cuidado neonatal convencional para bebês prematuros e de baixo peso ao nascer. Esta pesquisa teve como objetivos, conhecer o significado da experiência do Método Canguru para os pais, mães e familiares envolvidos e identificar suas dificuldades e benefícios. Estudo realizado com oito mães e dois pais, por meio de roteiro de entrevista semiestruturada. Utilizou-se a análise de conteúdo por categorias temáticas para a análise dos dados. A idade das mães variou entre17 e 22 anos e o peso dos bebês entre 1400g à 2000. A orientação sobre o método foi fundamental para seu sucesso. Foi constatado satisfação e interesse pelo método. A mãe foi a figura principal no método. Houve relatos de dificuldade na conciliação do trabalho e no cuidado com outros filhos.
其他摘要：The "Mother Kangaroo" Care Method is an alternative to conventional neonatal care of premature and low-weight babies. The purposes of this research was to get acquainted with the experience of fathers, mothers and family members involved with the Kangaroo Method and to identify the difficulties and benefits. This research was carried out with eight mothers and two fathers through a semistructured interview. It used the content analyses with thematic categories on data assessment. The age of the mothers varied between 17 and 22 years-old and the babies' weight varied between 1400g and 2000g. The orientation about the method was essential for its success. Satisfaction and interest in the method were noticed. The mother was the main character in the method. There were reports about the difficulty to reconcile work and the care of other children.
