摘要：Este trabalho apresenta diferentes formas de operação dos diversos pesquisadores na Internet, demonstrando como funcionam os mecanismos de busca, tais como a Alta Vista, BookMark, Cadê, Infoseek, etc., fazendo uma comparação entre os diversos critérios e ferramentas de acesso, demonstrando as características dos catálogos e índices sites em Português e Inglês. Discute, de forma breve, princípios para a localização de informações na Internet.
