Ao chamar atenção para a pertinência das investigações sobre secularismos, neste artigo, busco analisar alguns aspectos de atividades seculares e religiosas que ganharam corpo no Rio de Janeiro. Escolhi descrevê-los através das relações e entrelaçamentos que estabeleceram com projetos e práticas religiosas direcionados a uma questão social que vem capturando a imaginação dos habitantes do Rio de Janeiro, a chamada "violência". As transformações do tratamento concedido à violência são encaradas como parte do processo que envolve agentes leigos e religiosos em diferentes projetos de salvação.

By calling attention to the relevance of the researches on secularisms, in this article, I try to analyze some aspects of secular and religious activities that gained body in Rio de Janeiro. I chose to describe them through the twists and relationships they established with religious projects and practices directed toward a social issue that has been capturing the imagination of the inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro, the called "violence". The transformations of the treatment accorded to violence are seen as part of the process that involves religious and lay agents in different projects of salvation.
