O artigo procurou discutir a evolução da presença feminina no emprego e nas escolas de engenharia por intermédio da análise de estatísticas oficiais, bem como conhecer as experiências e vivências profissionais de engenheiros(as), suas análises e avaliações sobre a profissão e sobre o lugar das mulheres dentro dela. O artigo discute também alguns dos limites de gênero com que as engenheiras se depararam na sua inserção em determinadas áreas de trabalho e no desenvolvimento de suas carreiras.

This article reviews the evolution of the presence of women in engineering courses and occupations based on official statistical data. It aims to investigate the professional experience and expertise of both male and female engineers and their representations about their occupation and on the place given to women in it. The article also discusses some of the gender limitations female engineers have stumbled upon in their professional insertion and in to make progress in their carriers.
