Considerando os desafios que se colocam cotidianamente para o assistente social que atua na área da saúde, especialmente em contextos hospitalares, no atendimento direto aos usuários, trato neste artigo das dimensões éticas que estão presentes em seu trabalho e que são constitutivas da identidade da profissão, expressando-se em diferentes níveis desde a ética dos cuidados até a ética militante e de proteção social. Finalizo indicando a importância da pesquisa para qualificar o conhecimento e a própria intervenção profissional.

Taking into consideration the challenges that the social worker acting in the field of -health faces everyday, at several aspects, this article treats of the ethical dimensions present in his work and which constitute the identity of the profession, expressing themselves at different levels from the ethic of cares up to the active ethic and the social protection. I finish it by pointing out the importance of the research to qualify the knowledge and the professional intervention itself.
