O objetivo central desse artigo é testar se a mudança na legislação do PIS/COFINS, conseqüência das leis nº leis 10.637/2002 e 10833/2003, provocou quebras estruturais na dinâmica da inflação no Brasil, ou mesmo se houve algum efeito sobre o nível da inflação.Concluímosquepara osíndicesagregadosdepreço - IGP eIPC -nãoencontramosnenhuma evidênciadequebra estrutural,quer no nível,quer nadinâmicadainflação. O mesmo ocorrepara os sub-índicesdeinflação, sendo o sub-índice dePlanodeSaúde aúnica exceção.

The purpose of this article is to test if the change in the PIS / COFINS law, a consequence of 10.637/2002 and 10833/2003 laws, caused structural breaks in the Brazilian inflation dynamics, or even if it has any effect on the level of inflation. We concluded that for the price indexes - IGP and CPI -- there is no evidence of structural break on the inflation dynamics/level. The same is true for the sub-indexes of inflation, but the sub-index of Health Insurances which is the only exception.
