摘要：A versão para a Mãe do Inventário da Qualidade dos Relacionamentos Interpessoais (IQRI de Pierce, Sarason & Sarason, 1991) pretende avaliar o suporte social tal como é percecionado pelo adolescente em termos de Suporte, Profundidade e Conflito, no contexto específico da relação que estabelece com a mãe.Tradicionalmente, uma relação positiva com a mãe tem sido apontada na literatura como importante para a saúde mental dos filhos Objetivos: A presente investigação pretende confirmar a estrutura tri-fatorial do IQRI, encontrada por Pierce et al.(1991), com uma análise fatorial confirmatória e estudar as relações entre as dimensões do IQRI.A amostra foi constituída por 312 adolescentes, 171 raparigas e 141 rapazes, entre os 12 e 17 anos (M= 13,77; DP= 1,16).Nesta amostra de adolescentes confirmou-se a existência dos três fatores inicialmente propostos por Pierce et al.(1991): Suporte, Profundidade e Conflito.Encontraram-se associações positivas elevadas entre as subescalas Suporte e Profundidade (r= 0,63) e associações negativas moderadas entre estas subescalas e a subescala de conflito (r= -0,32 e r=-0,30, respetivamente) Conclusões: O presente estudo aponta para a importância das dimensões Suporte, Profundidade e Conflito nas relações que os adolescentes estabelecem com as suas mães.Suporte e Profundidade parecem estar especialmente relacionados entre si, apresentando associações moderadas e negativas com o Conflito.Estas questões específicas do relacionamento com a mãe devem ser consideradas em estudos futuros e em intervenções preventivas realizadas com adolescentes e famílias no sentido de os proteger para o desenvolvimento de psicopatologia.

The mothers version of Quality of Relationships Inventory (IQRI Pierce, Sarason & Sarason, 1991) intends to evaluate the social support as perceived by the adolescent in terms of Support, Depth and Conflict, in the specific domain of the relation established with the mother. Traditionally, literature has pointed out that a positive relation with the mother is important for the mental health of children. Aims: The present investigation aims to sustain the three-factor structure of the IQRI, found by Pierce, et al. (1991), with a confirmatory factor analysis and study the relations between IQRI dimensions. The sample comprised 312 adolescents, 171 girls e 141 boys, aged between 12 and 17 (M= 13.77, DP= 1.16). In this sample of adolescents the three-factor solution proposed by Pierce et al. (1991) was confirmed: Support, Depth and Conflict. High positive associations were found between Support and Depth subscales (r= .63) and moderate negative associations between these subscales and the Conflict subscale (r= -.32 and r= -.30, respectively) Conclusion: The present study points out the importance of the three dimensions, Support, Depth and Conflict in relations established by adolescents with their mothers. Support and Depth seem to be especially related between each other, presenting moderate and negative associations with Conflict. These specific issues related to mothers relationship with adolescents should be considered in future studies and in preventive interventions with adolescents and families, in order of protecting them from psychopathology.
