La ya clásica pregunta por si es posible considerar como "filosofía" la reflexión que se realiza en América Latina constituye el punto de partida del texto. Para ser considerado comotal, dicho pensar debe ajustarse al rígido esquema de la filosofía académica europea-occidental: filosofía normal. El problema se aborda partiendo del vínculo que se establece entre filosofía y disciplina puesto de manifiesto por Foucault, hasta llegar a la propuesta de un filosofar interculturalmente orientado que realiza Fornet Betancourt, pues son con frecuencia las experiencias interculturales las que permiten descubrir nuevas prácticas o reordenar las ya existentes en el ámbito disciplinar filosófico. Tanto la incorporación de prácticas nuevas como la reorganización de las ya existentes producen las alteraciones en el estilo que son indispensables para ampliar las alternativas del pensamiento y hacer del pensamiento "alternativo" una posibilidad real, "normal", aceptada como filosófica.

The classic question if it is possible to consider the Latin American reflections as philosophy is the starting point for this text. For this being so, such thinking must adjust to the rigid pattern of Occidental-European academic philosophy-normal philosophy. We tackle this question starting from the link between philosophy and discipline as expressed by Foucault, and reaching a proposal for an intercultural-oriented philosophical thinking by Fornet Betancourt, since intercultural experiences usually lead to the discovery of new practices or to the reorganization of the old ones in the field of philosophic disciplines. The inclusion of new practices as well as the reorganization of the already existing ones produces the change of style that is indispensable to broaden thought alternatives and to make alternative thought real, «normal» and accepted as philosophical.
