摘要:Any survey of anti-Communism must include an account of the Greek experience. It was in Greece that the British first used military-force against their former allies- of World War Two- one of the more shameful incidents in recent British history-and it was in Greece that the USA most decisively extended its empire. The techniques of neo-colonial rule, first worked out in Greece were a blueprint for intervention in the rest of the world. While this process was in its outline clearly visible to the world at the time, the story has now been told from the inside, by the careful sifting of State Department documents and other sources. This new evidence gives chapter and verse for what could only previously be surmised, confirms the general picture of US domination but in some important respects causes us to revise earlier assumptions.
