摘要：With changing technology, the Internet has taken a pivotal role in all kinds of applications in our daily lives. To handle flood of information on the Internet, smarter Web technology is also required. This requirement has led to the advent of newer, smarter and better Web technology called 'Semantic Web'. Semantic Web is the next step in Web evolution. High usability of Semantic Web has found significant applications in the field of life sciences, crime investigation, scientific research, literary analysis, social networking, electronic commerce, knowledge management, digital libraries, defence, e-government, energy sector, financial services, healthcare, oil and gas industry, publishing, website back-ends, multimedia, etc. This paper discusses the most prominent areas for application of Semantic Web technology. http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/djlit.31.4.1113
