  • 摘要:The epsilometer (E) test was used to evaluate the antimicrobial susceptibility of 99 isolates of Porphyromonas gingivalis recovered from subgingival plaque of adult periodontitis patients in Norway (20 isolates), Sudan (39 isolates), and Romania (40 isolates). The antimicrobial agents tested were penicillin G, clindamycin, erythromycin, amoxicillin, tetracycline, and metronidazole. Except for one Sudanese isolate which had intermediate MIC value to erythromycin, results showed that all isolates from the three countries were sensitive to all six antibiotics used. Pencillin G, clindamycin, and amoxicillin were the most effective. Erythromycin was the least effective antibiotic and, like tetracycline and metronidazole, it exhibited variable efficacy against isolates from the three populations. Keywords:  Norway, Sudan, Romania, Porphyromonas gingivalis, antimicrobial susceptibility.
