摘要：Este trabajo analiza los determinantes científicos y tecnológicos, culturales y filosóficos – tanto a nivel local como global – que afectan la Educación Superior en el mundo contemporáneo, y su impacto en una institución como la UNIVERSIDAD EAFIT de Medellín. Invita a los administradores universitarios a repensar el papel de la institución universitaria en la sociedad de comienzos del siglo XXI y a evaluar las alternativas a su disposición para conservar la autonomía académica, como única garantía de excelencia en la ejecución de su misión.
其他摘要：In this work, the author analices how has changed the academic life in institutions of Higher Education as a consequence of Globalization and Postmodernity. The argument is built from the point of view of UNIVERSIDAD EAFIT of Medellín, Colombia. Besides, the work is an invitation delivered to university administrators to discuss and evaluate the new philosophical paradigms that give sense to their mission; to evaluate the new technologies that are changing their traditional roll as educators, and to consider their options to mantain the academic autonomy, as the only guaranty of excelence in the contemporary world.
