摘要:In this paper I outline the basic properties of a theory of segmental representation currently under development in another study (Wilson, in progress ). Specifically, I propose that phonological segments1 are composed of a structurally defined head feature that may, but does not necessarily, form a dependency relation with one or more nonhead features. I also claim that a licensing distinction between head and dependent features is implicated in the operation of various phonological processes.
