摘要:An increase in extreme weather events is one of the features associated with ACIA climate change projections. These include droughts and storms that could lead to wildfires, floods, erosion, avalanches and landslides. Destruction of buildings, utilities, roads, bridges, ports and plane crashes, ship wrecks and potential loss of life can result. Because the impact of climate change is greater in the Arctic, these disasters could be even more significant to northern populations. Isolation, lack of transportation, and lack of emergency response infrastructure make Arctic communities even more vulnerable.(Int J Circumpolar Health 2005; 64(5):438-439)
