摘要:The population in western countries is rapidly getting old. However, thus far information behavior of the aging population has not been considered sufficiently in information studies. This article focuses on elderly people and presents a study on recently retired teachers’ information behavior in everyday life context. The research method consists of qualitative triangulation, i.e. a survey, the sentence completion test and the recorded net use guidance sessions by thirteen seniors and two librarians, and content analysis of the data. Uncertainty and coping behavior are the main concerns in retired teachers’ information behavior, particularly in their use of the Internet. The results indicate that retired teachers experience both uncertainty and coping in relation to intrinsic and external factors, as well as to their social network. The research process continues as a doctoral study. The aim is to provide a model of senior citizens’ information behavior.
