摘要:This report outlines a national research agenda related to developing university libraries in their changing operational environment. Literature and responses from two Web surveys were collected and analysed for the project. On grounds of the results, the most important research themes were sifted and drafted. As the conceptual framework for the research area, a holistic model is proposed, covering the library (as levels/processes) and the changes in the operational environment. The dimensions of the environment are structural, operational, resource, human and informational changes. The library levels are the library as a whole, inputs, processes, outputs, use, and effects. The library can be examined from both the system and user perspective. The guiding principle would be to study the development of university libraries to meet the needs of the changing universities. The number one theme is library processes and especially the influence of the structural changes in the environment on them.
