摘要：Cognitive Radios have been proposed as the solution for the problem of underutilization of spectrum by licensed user. Various techniques have been put forward for calculating the spectrum sensing time. These techniques differ on the assumptions to be taken for the sensing time calculations, which lead to the variety of results. Since interference and false-alarms are the primary parameters in calculating the sensing time, hence they must be examined in depth. This paper emphasizes on the role of interference due to various sources and examine the main techniques for calculating the sensing time and also compares the results while keeping in mind the trade-offs that can be feasible.
