摘要：Translation theorists still have been on the quest for an approach to translation units in scientific term translation. The paper presents two principles of scientific term translation – “recombination of semantic components” and “functional equivalence” – which, in combination with Vinay & Darbelnet’s (1977) translation procedures, produce procedures of translating terms outside the context. The paper further proposes Coordinate Translation Model which helps decode apposite translation units for the translation of contextualized terms.
