摘要：A concorrência a que se assiste entre as instituições de ensino superior faz com que elas procurem acompanhar esse ambiente competitivo. As instituições são cada vez mais empreendedoras, introduzem melhorias nos serviços que prestam, são pró-activas nas suas acções estratégicas, tudo em prol da sustentação no mercado, cada vez mais selectivo e exigente. Atingir a excelência no ensino é hoje um dos grandes objectivos das instituições de ensino superior, e o público-alvo, um factor de competitividade. Este artigo tem como objectivo analisar a aderência das universidades e politécnicos a sistemas de gestão da qualidade, que as tornem robustas face aos concorrentes e que, entre outros desígnios, constituam uma ferramenta indispensável aos processos de avaliação e acreditação. Concluise que um sistema de gestão da qualidade permite à Universidade gerir mais eficientemente as despesas sociais, orientar os estudantes para melhores oportunidades de emprego e desenvolver um ensino compatível com uma sociedade de alta tecnologia. 其他摘要：The competition seen between institutions of higher education leads them to find ways to keep up in this competitive environment. Institutions are increasingly more entrepreneurial, introducing improvements in the services they render. They are pro-active in their strategic actions with everything geared towards sustaining in the market, increasingly more selective and demanding. Today, achieving excellence in teaching is one of the great objectives of institutions of higher learning, and the target public is a factor in competitiveness. The objective of this article was to analyze the adherence of universities and technical schools to systems of quality management, which make them stronger in the face of competition and which, among other factors, constitute an indispensable tool to the processes of evaluation and accreditation. It was concluded that the system of quality management allows the University to more efficiently manage social expenses, orient students towards better job opportunities an develop teaching that is compatible with high tech society.
