摘要：Media and movements exist in an interesting relationship, each needing the other to effectively pursue their separate agenda. Broadly speaking, the mass media work to support hegemonic ideologies while social movements work to challenge hegemony. In the case of the lesbian and gay liberation movement, it is heterosexual hegemony that is at issue, and this paper offers a case study of heterosexual hegemony being transformed in response to challenge from below.
