The analyses of morbidity, disability and mortality of the selected diseases are complementary to clinical research. By using them, different relationships between many factors and clinical data can be described. The aim of the research was to study the morbidity, disability and mortality being the consequences of urogenital neoplasms.Material and methods. Object of the research: all diagnosed cases of urogenital neoplasms in urban population of the western part of Belarus (Grodno region) during the period: 1995-2004. There were determined ranges of disability and death rates because of urogenital neoplasms.Results. Urogenital neoplasms contribute in different proportions to morbidity (32.2%), disability (17.4%) and mortality (27.2%) caused by malignant diseases. On the average, from among 1000 new-detected cases of urogenital cancer, 519 subjects die and 514 become disabled. The number of registered patients with these diseases still increases. Such a situation is due to the occurrences of new cases of such diseases, lack of rehabilitation possibilities, accumulation of patients with prolonged survival time and decrement in mortality – because of better medical care. Actually the prevalence of urogenital neoplasms exceeds the morbidity caused by these diseases by 6.5 times and equals to 699.3 patients every 100 000 members of a population. During the observation period, the morbidity rate for women exceeded the same index for men. At the same time the higher increment of mortality index for men then mortality index for women was observed. The correlation between mortality index and morbidity index is equal to 0.52. Analysing the changes in those indexes we can draw conclusions about effectiveness of diagnostic and treatment procedures applied to patients suffering from malignant diseases.Conclusion. The obtained information on the levels of morbidity, disability and mortality in patients with various nosological forms of malignant diseases may help with planning rational medical and social care.
